Unnecessary government regulations have historically created problems in numerous industries, and should be under constant scrutiny as technology and conditions change. Employers who provide family leave attract and retain quality workers, and it should be the choice of the employer to offer this benefit. Since the national government botched the COVID-19 response, they should spearhead financial relief efforts. | |||

| "Common Core" standards are necessary in today's transient world. Students come to Missouri from all over the US with different levels of education, making accommodations necessary. Charter schools should only receive state funding if the school is held accountable to state standards of public schools. Teacher salaries are woefully low in Missouri, however, the PSRS is among the nation's best retirement systems and should be protected (and should allow benefits prohibited by WEP). "Unlawful" immigrants who have graduated from Missouri schools have already passed a US and Missouri Constitution test and are as qualified for citizenship as any natural-born citizen. | |||

| Missouri should strive to solve renewable energy controversies such as the Grain Belt Express issue in order to create and provide power from several available sources. Working with other states in the region to reduce emissions is vital, as pollutants do not observe or respect state boundaries. Concentrated Animal Feeding Operations (CAFO) should be under tighter scrutiny and inspected often for abuse of feedout limits, waste removal, and regional polluting. Missouri's lakes and streams need funding, manpower, and awareness initiatives to keep them clean and pristine. | |||

| I don't wish to see major limitations on guns. The Second Amendment is a guarantee that the citizenry will always have a right to firearms, and I will always support this. As an educator, I support a gun in the holster of a school resource officer, but not on a teacher's desk. Schools should be protected by trained protectors, and student should be taught by trained educators. Gun owners should be accountable for their ownership and should be required to carry a license. | |||

Members of Missouri's General Assembly have already threatened to refuse funding of the newly-passed Medicaid expansion and I will work to see that it is implemented. Individuals should be required to carry insurance, and the subsidy program of the Affordable Care Act should be reinstated along with the requirement. Individuals who are not vaccinated will see limitations on participation in public school, as it should be. Requiring paid medical leave is conditional on continuation of PPP funding on the national level. | |||

| Regulation, oversight, and regular inspections of any facility that purports to care for minors as a rehabilitation or educational venture outside the current boundaries of oversight by the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, the Department of Family Services, or county boards of health. Faith-based ventures in this category must be licensed and adhere to the same standards as any daycare, group home, opportunity workshop, or nursing home in order to end sexual and other physical abuse, harsh/excessive punishments, and substandard living conditions. | |||
| My top priority is ensuring that the August 4, 2020 vote of the people to expand Medicaid in the state of Missouri is enacted by the General Assembly. The state will have to allocate funds to buy into the program but will reap many times the initial investment. |
